Take Action for our Region's Future

The Cross Harbor Rail Freight Tunnel is the most critical freight transportation project in the New York and New Jersey region.

The tunnel will build a direct freight rail connection below the Hudson River, connecting New Jersey with Brooklyn and bring:

  • Traffic reductions through the removal of 1 million tractor trailer trucks per year.
  • An economic stimulus for New Jersey and New York, with the potential to create more 29,000 long-terms jobs in addition to substantial construction jobs, while lowering the costs of business and consumer goods in the area.
  • Reduced air pollution by shifting to rail, eliminating more than 60,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year.
  • Increased security by reducing our reliance on the George Washington Bridge for essential goods.

Your participation is vital to making this project a reality! Our transportation infrastructure affects our quality of life immensely, but is something that the general public does not often think about. To make sure that our region is able to survive and grow in an equitable and environmentally sound way, concerned people must advocate for critical infrastructure investments. Please communicate to your elected officials how important the Cross Harbor Rail Freight Tunnel is to you.
